  • Dr. Leshin Chen

    Leshin Chen, DDS

    Dr. Chen graduated magna cum laude from UCLA with a degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics.  He then continued his education at UCLA School of Dentistry, where he graduated cum laude with his dental degree.  He then completed an additional three- year residency in Post Graduate Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery at UCLA School of Dentistry.   

    Dr. Chen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.  A Diplomate is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and who is certified by the American Board of Periodontology.

    His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Academy of Periodontology, Western Society of Periodontology, California Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Gabriel Valley Dental Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

    During his time at UCLA, he served as Director of the UCLA Asian Dental Free Clinic. He has served as a member of the board for the San Gabriel Valley Dental Society.  He is currently a lecturer at UCLA School of Dentistry and Pasadena City College Dental Hygiene Program.  He also participates and lectures for various dental study groups for continuing education for dentists. 

    Recognizing an important need for community service, he is an active volunteer for the "Give Kids A Smile" program.  The American Dental Association's Give Kids A Smile program enhances the oral health of large numbers of needy children. Give Kids A Smile activities also highlight for policy makers the ongoing challenges that low-income families face in finding dental care. 

    Beside English, Dr. Chen speaks Mandarin and Taiwanese.  In his spare time he enjoys cooking, swimming, watching sports, and learning about new technologies. 

  • Dr. Irene Tam

    Irene Tam, DDSDr. Tam graduated magna cum laude with a major in Microbiology and a minor in Dance from UC San Diego.  She continued her education at UCLA School of Dentistry, where she received her dental degree graduating summa cum laude.  With a strong interest in refining her skills and knowledge in Periodontics, she decided to continue her training at UCLA School of Dentistry for an additional three years, completing a residency in Post Graduate Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery.   

    Dr. Tam is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.  A Diplomate is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and who is certified by the American Board of Periodontology.

    Dr. Tam has served as clinical faculty for the UCLA School of Dentistry and the Dental Hygiene Program at Pasadena City College.   

    Dr. Tam also spends time lecturing for various dental study groups for continuing education for dentists. 

    Dr. Tam is our female Periodontist and has a special interest in helping our female patients understand the importance of treating periodontal disease prior to pregnancy to reduce risks of pre-term labor. 

    Besides English, Dr. Tam speaks Cantonese.  In her spare time, Dr.Tam enjoys dancing, baking, and crafts.

     

  • Dr. Henry H. Takei

    Henry Takei, DDSDr. Takei attended University of Southern California for his undergraduate education.  He received his dental degree, master's degree, and certificate in periodontics from Marquette University. 

    He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists.  He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, American Dental Education Association,  California Socity of Periodontists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

    Dr. Takei has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology.  He was honored with the Distinquished Alumnus of the Year 2001 from Marquette University

    Dr. Takei is Professor of Periodontics at UCLA School of Dentistry and Consultant in Periodontics for the Veterans Administraton Hospital, Los Angeles, California.  He has given hundreds of course and lectures throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, South America, Mexico, and Canada.  He is also the author of twenty-eight scientific and clinical publications.  He is the co-editor of Carranza's Clinical Periodontolgy Textbook and contributes to five textbooks on periodontics and surgery. 

    Besides English, Dr. Takei speaks Japanese.  His hobbies include golfing, tennis, and skiing.
